What is this?
Every tile above is a tiny universe drawing itself, frame by frame, from pure mathematics. Reaction-diffusion patterns, slime-mold networks, flow fields, strange attractors, quantum toys and dozens more, each one a living model that computes as you watch. Nothing here is a video or a picture. It is all being calculated live on the page in front of you.
No AI is involved anywhere. The word "generative" has come to mean two very different things, so it is worth being exact: there is no model, no training data and no prompt behind any of this. Every pixel is the output of an equation someone wrote by hand — Gray-Scott, Kuramoto, Nagel-Schreckenberg, the Schrödinger equation — running in your browser at this moment. There is also no framework and no library: one HTML file, opened, is the whole program.
Nothing installs and nothing loads from anywhere else. Open any tile to look closer, then tune its parameters with live sliders and feel the behaviour shift under your hands. Every world grows from a seed, so the same seed always blooms into the same result. You can reseed to wander into a new variation, turn on sound to let a simulation sing or let the drawing generate its own, and when something catches your eye, export it as a picture or a video, or copy a link that reopens the exact same moment for anyone you send it to. Anything worth keeping goes into the Grimoire, a list of saved invocations that lives in your own browser and is never sent anywhere.

Is any of this made with AI?
No. There is no model, no training data and no prompt anywhere in Simunauts. Every image is produced by a published equation — reaction-diffusion, cellular automata, quantum mechanics, orbital dynamics — implemented by hand and computed live in your browser. "Generative art" and "AI art" have blurred together in ordinary use; this is the first kind, the one that predates neural networks by half a century.
Do I need to install anything or sign up?
No. Simunauts is a single self-contained web page: no installs, no account, no downloads, and nothing loads from anywhere else. Open it and it runs.
What can I do with each simulation?
Click any tile to open it in Focus mode, where live sliders tune every parameter in real time. Each world grows from a seed, so the same seed always reproduces the same result; reseed to wander into new variations.
Can I add sound?
Yes, in two opposite ways. Music composes a synth track from the seed to drive the animation, while Sonify makes the drawing itself sing — its colour warmth and motion shape the sound.
Can I save or share what I make?
Yes. Export any panel as a PNG image or a WebM video with its audio, or the whole board as a single PNG. Share copies a link that reopens the exact same moment — same seed, palette and settings — for anyone you send it to. The Grimoire keeps your favourite invocations in this browser, so you can return to them later; that list stays on your device and is never uploaded.
